GET THE DATA!
One of the biggest challenges in the White Shepherd Genetics Project is
collecting data. The founders of the project have come up with the
ingenious idea of setting up a website where people could submit data
online. This can be done at www.wsgenetics.org
But what about the people out there who don't have access to
computers? How to make it easier for them to submit data?
I was privileged to be in on a brainstorming session for the Project, when
Debbie Martin tossed out an idea: a postcard for reporting genetics
information. Genius! This simple card could be printed out by breeders and
handed out to their puppy buyers in puppy packages; printed by clubs and
sent out in newsletters or handed out at shows and pet fairs.
A file is now freely available in PDF format online at the following
locations: http://www.wsgenetics.org/images/geneticpostcard.pdf
It has been designed to print on postcard stock that can be purchased at your local office supply store.
For those who do not have access to a computer, we are including a copy
of the postcard in our club newsletter that can be photocopied onto cardstock at your local printer.
If you are not an AWSA member and want to participate, please write our
Health & Genetics Chair who will be happy to mail you a form: Judy Huston, P.
O. Box 2068, Howell, MI. 48844-2068 judyh2@ameritech.net
Those of you who aren't breeders but own White Shepherds ... we need your data too!
Simply cut out the card(s) you need, but mail them in an envelope (since this paper isn't really stiff enough to get through the postal service).
Don't forget to put sufficient postage to get the card across the border into Canada.
I have already printed postcards and mailed them to my puppy buyers in
their birthday cards. I hope many of you will help us to GET THE DATA!
