There are many opportunities to compete with your dog and to meet the other wonderful people who have chosen this remarkable breed. The American White Shepherd Association and the White Shepherd Club of Canada host many conformation shows that are exclusive to the White Shepherd. The dogs are judged against a standard that has been written exclusively for the White Shepherd. Some of these shows have had entries of up to 70 White Shepherds and provide a wonderful environment for the novice handler to benefit from the experience of the many people who attend.

These clubs do not recognize the White Shepherd as a separate breed and judge the dogs against the standard for the German Shepherd Dog. The UKC recognizes the White Shepherd as a separate breed, but allows those who prefer to have their dog judged by the German Shepherd Dog standard to enter as a German Shepherd Dog.
