What does a high-drive wannabe herding dog do when she is frustrated
because she can't herd? She keeps a watch on the Texas Longhorns
living next door and when they dare to wander near her house,
she plans her escape. Her first escape was made by crashing her
x-pen to the ground and squeezing under the fence. The Longhorns
were so startled by her that she caught them off guard. Round
1 went to Kyra. She took Henry the bull and his harem and put
them in their pen and kept them there.
Next escape happened six months later as the two toddler Longhorns
ran down the fence line. Kyra was up and over our fence before
I knew what was happening. Henry the bull and Queen B charged
Ky while Clementine and Chloe
protected their young. Round 2 looked like it was going to the
horns, but Ky wore them down after more than an hour, and it was
a draw. (Me? I almost died, but I don't think Kyra noticed.)
There will be no Round 3!!! (Do you think if I put this in my
prayers and say it over and over and over there will really be
no Round 3? All White Shepherd owners put out a collective prayer
-- there will be no Round 3!)
Thank you Lynda Proulx for having the cartoon above made for
me as a reminder of my girl's escapades.
